Santa visits the Nursery

Nursery children have now all settled into the Fairlop nursery and they are enjoying the activities.  Every day they do different things.

Today it snowed and the Nusery children were able to play in it. The nursery nurses got some snow and brought it inside in an empty sand pit so and they had great fun together.   Also Santa paid them a visit too which was a lovely surprise!

Or new friends the caterpillars!

After all the excitement of the chicks has faded away we have been lucky enough to have some new friends in nursery this week. We are now learning about the life cycle of butterflies. When our very small caterpillars arrived and they were very hungry! During the week they have doubled in size and it won't be long before they will start the process of turning in to a chrysalis or a cocoon. We will then try to wait patiently until our butterflies emerge. We have them placed on a low table so we can all see so don't forget to take a look when you come in to nursery.

Spring has arrived!

Spring arrived in nursery last week with the long awaited arrival of our hens eggs. Some people from Wellgate Animal Farm came to see us and talked to us about how to look after our eggs in order for them to hatch into chicks. We got a special machine called an incubator to keep the eggs warm, they will stay in the incubator for 3 weeks and we should have real live chicks around about 24th - 25th March! We also have a special hopuse to keep the chicks in when they have hatched out of the shells. Its along time for us to wait as we are all so eggcited!

Bubble Blowing

At nursery this week Mrs Low decided to get the bubbles out for some fun. We went into the garden and blew our scented bubbles in to the air. We could smell chocolate and lemon as we watched them float up into the sky. We tried our very best to catch them but it was not easy. Then reception joined us outside and Mrs Low brought out the large bubble blower. We had great fun watching the huge bubbles rise up, we chased them but we did not catch them. We all had a lot of fun.

Drum Outdoors

At nursery this week we have been learning to improve our listening skills. We wanted to listen to sounds in the enviroment so during one of our group time sessions we took some drumsticks out into the garden and began tapping or stroking different objects. We were able to listen to the different sounds that each object made, we talked about the sounds and we also made a video of our adventure. We hope you like it.
