Visit from a paramedic

The Nursery had a visit from Mr Low - a paramedic from East of England Ambulance Service. He talked to the children about his job and answered any questions they had. He showed the children how to put on a sling and listen to a person breathing using a stethoscope.

Welcome back to Nursery!

A warm welcome all new children and parents to Fairlop Nursery and of course, a warm welcome back to children who were with us last year.

The Nursery Team has changed since last year and now consists of Mrs Low (formerly Miss Sales) - Nursery Teacher/Green group Key worker, Mrs Stichbury - Blue group Key Worker, Mrs Gilbert/Mrs Nicholson - Red group key workers, Mrs Barker - Teaching Assistant. Please feel free to speak to any member of the team if you have any questions or concerns.

The children in the Nursery have made a great start to the year. They are beginning to make friends and are having fun exploring the Nursery environment to find out what they can do.

Keep visiting this blog to see pictures and videos of the children working. This week you will see the Nursery children singing the song Boom Chika Boom. Enjoy!

Each week the Nursery has focus activities that they do with the children. Last week the children completed an obstacle course in the hall. The following day the children were given the opportunity to master the course on their own. The video shows some of the morning children developing their balancing skills and using the physical equipment outside.

Water Play at Nursery

Simron and Sibel are having great fun filling up the bottles. Simron also discovers what happens when you blow onto the water and Sibel has a go to.

Sade and Natasha are playing at the water tray. They are filling up bottles and using the water to turn the water wheel. Sade then finds out what happens if you put a spoon over the neck of the bottle.

Gardening area - digging up the carrots!

Last year the Nursery children planted carrot seeds. The children were responsibile for looking after them and they have now grown in to carrots. Last week the children learned about harvest and the school visited the church to celebrate harvest festival. This week some of the foundation stage children decided that it was time to harvest the carrots and a group of them dug them up. This is what happened.

Anyone fancy a picnic?

The children in this short film have independently taken some resources from the home corner and made their own picnic/tea party in the blue room. They are using their own experiences and ideas to explore different family roles and extend their understanding of going on a picnic.

The nursery has had a makeover during the summer holidays and it now looks very modern and streamlined. We have a new slope and entrance and the garden area is now a large open playing area for the Foundation Stage. The nursery has also got lots of new children and they are having a fantastic time exploring the nursery and discovering what we have on offer. The children have been dressing up and playing in the home corner, experimenting with sand and water, making junk models, using the computer and metal detectors, building models using construction and lots lots more!! Keep checking our blog to find out what else we are doing!
